With Wrestlemania 33 only a week away, there has been lot written and published about this WWE epic event. While many are baiting upon several bouts; WWE Wrestlemania 33 is surely going to become one of the most memorable main events for several reasons.
While everyone is eyeing upon the epic clash between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title, Roman Reigns will take on Undertaker and Seth Rolins will finally get his hands on Triple H. That being said, we have listed out 10 epic moments that are expected to be seen in Wrestlemania 33 on April 2, 2017. Do have a read!
While Brock Lesnar had managed to break Undertaker’s streak 2 years ago; everyone is baiting upon Roman Reigns to take down the beast and have the privilege of breaking down the legendary streak.
The Streak was a series of 21 straight victories for professional wrestler The Undertaker (Mark Calaway) at WWE’s premier annual event, Wrestlemania. It began at Wrestlemania VII in 1991 when he beat Jimmy Snuka, with the final win coming against CM Punk at Wrestlemania 29 in 2013. Undertaker was absent from WrestleMania X in 1994 and 2000, following injury. By far he has defeated 18 men during The Streak and since then The Streak has become the major highlight of the Wrestlemania. And when Brock Lesnar defeated The Undertaker in Wrestlemania 2014, most of his fans were devastated including me. While Roman Reigns is my favorite player, but I would still cheer for the Undertaker as he is going to fight against Roman Reigns to defend his legendary Streak.
Apart from the scheduled matches that are going to be played in WWE Wrestlemania 33, the moments are what going to be the most talked about topic out of this 5-hour show later on. Right from the epic rivalry between The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin that we got to witness at the Wrestlemania and Bret Hart weathering an incredible bout with Owen Hart to win the championship at Wrestlemania X to Daniel Bryan’s phenomenal WWE Championship win; those moments have always made this event so special and above all other events including Royal Rumble and Summer Slam.
Awesome moments from Wrestlemania 32
Some awesome moments from Wrestlemania 32 included Lita unveiling The New WWE Women’s Championship, Zack Ryder showing his true emotions upon his victory, Sasha Banks paying tribute to Eddie Guerrero, Charlotte absolutely nailing a picture-perfect Moonsault from the turnbuckle onto both Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks, Dean Ambrose doing a German Suplex onto steel chairs, Roman Reigns spearing Stephanie McMahon, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels & Steve Austin running wild and Shane McMahon missing an elbow from Hell in a Cell.
10 epic moments that are expected to be seen in Wrestlemania 33 on April 2
10. AJ Style smashing Shane McMahon
AJ Styles taking on Smackdown commissioner Shane McMahon is going to be one of the most highlighted Wrestlemania 2017 moments. Even though Styles has managed to deliver a classic, he has instead preferring fighting against a non-wrestler. As for Shane McMahon, he might be in great shape as he had wrestled against The Undertaker in Hell in a Cell match last year; but people are already baiting upon Style smashing Shane on April 2.
If Styles wins, Shane will likely become far more offensive and the victory probably won’t be clean. If Styles crushes Shane just as he had defeated James Ellsworth in that epic battle, it would prove that “The Phenomenal One” is more than just doing the talking.
A devastating beat down followed by a stretcher job for Shane wouldn’t just be memorable – it would cement Styles as the most dangerous player in the WWE, thereby paving a path to reclaim the WWE Championship.
9. Jericho and Owens – From friends to rebels
The history of WWE has shown us bffs turning into feud and how their bitter relationships have turned into some of the epic WWE matches down the lane. History is going to repeat itself as we’ll be seeing the much needed clash between Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens who has emerged as a true villain in the recent months. Jericho’s bullying nature has cost him heavily as he was viciously beaten up by Owens, when Kevin Owens attacked Chris Jericho during WWE Live’s Road to Wrestlemania Tour in Germany.
From best friends to bitter enemies, Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens will be unleashing their anger against each other at Wrestlemania 33, with Jericho’s U.S. Title on the line.
Both Superstars will be entering the championship grudge match fueled by rage, with recent acts of betrayal and retribution fresh in their minds. If Jericho wins though, it wouldn’t surprise his fans. It would offer a bit of vindication for Y2J, who’s been so delightful ever since his return to the company last year. As for the title change, there’s always Extreme Rules and chance for Owens to get his revenge and this is how show will go on until any divine intervention.
8. Big Show’s Last Wrestlemania at Battle Royal
The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal returns to Wrestlemania for the fourth straight year on Sunday, April 2, 2017. A multitude of WWE Superstars from both Raw and SmackDown LIVE will collide to see who will claim the contest’s coveted trophy and chances are underdogs like Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman can claim the title. The annual Battle Royal was introduced at Wrestlemania 30 in honor of the late WWE Hall of Famer, Andre the Giant. This year in Wrestlemania 2017, former winner The Big Show – who’s gotten into great shape will be playing probably his last Wrestlemania – and the possibilities really multiply.
Meanwhile the anticipated Wrestlemania 33 match between Shaquille O’Neal and The Big Show might not take place. The match was supposed to happen ever since the confrontation between the two during the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royale at last year’s Wrestlemania, but Show indicated that a deal is not in place between O’Neal and WWE.
7. New Day Hosting Wrestlemania 33
When WWE Universe unveiled this news of New Day hosting WWE Wrestlemania 33 and claiming the Power of Positivity to shine on the biggest night in sports entertainment, there was mixed reactions. While there is no doubt the trio would cheer up, looking at their past achievements, we believe they deserved to be in a major match than simply hosting the main event.
The last Wrestlemania host was Hulk Hogan, who kicked off the show with a segment featuring The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 30. Before Hogan, The Rock returned to the WWE for the first time in almost 7 years to host Wrestlemania 27.
Here’s what Kofi Kingston had to say,
Our main goal is to have as much fun as possible because if were having fun, everybody’s having fun!
However, many believe that this is going to be the New Day’s second historic moment as they surpassed the record of longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions by reaching 483 days with the titles.
6. John Cena Teaming Up with Nikki Bella
While we were expecting a major match for John Cena, say taking on The Undertaker, John Cena has however teamed up with his real life girlfriend Nikki Bella to fight against The Miz and his wife Maryse. The rumor proved to be true and this match is now official.
Miz was absolutely phenomenal in 2016, while Cena, irrespective of having a low key profile last year, has had some of the best bouts of his career since his last Wrestlemania match.Nikki Bella is hit or miss, and Maryse on the other hand really isn’t a competent wrestler at all. The potential for entertainment is there, but not for a truly classic match.
5. Naomi confirms Wrestlemania 33
Naomi’s father, who is a renowned soul/R&B musician from South Florida, confirmed that his daughter would be playing in Wrestlemania which coincidentally takes place in their hometown of Orlando, Florida. He had tweeted from his band’s official profile – ‘She will be back by Wrestlemania’.
In case you missed..
Naomi won the Smackdown Women’s Championship belt for the first time at Elimination Chamber defeating the former champion Alexa Bliss, only to relinquish it at the very next episode of SmackDown LIVE due to a knee injury. Daniel Bryan had to reclaim the title as it was established that she would be unable to defend her championship within 30 days, as is custom with any title in WWE. As a result, she was publicly stripped of the title. A title match then took place between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch, and Bliss reclaimed the championship for the second time. With Alexa Bliss defending her championship at Wrestlemania, there is a great possibility of Naomi returning and picking up the prize from Bliss in the multi-woman match.
4. Seth Rollins versus Triple H
While originally this match was scheduled last year but was scrapped off due to Rollins’ knee injury. Based on the Architect’s physical battles on Raw and the Game’s recent appearance, the rumor was more seemingly to be true and then it finally became official. What interesting about this fight is it’s not going to be a match. Instead, Triple H wants to make this an Unsanctioned bout. That means this will never be made official and these two will be able to beat the living daylights out of each other.
In case you missed..
Rollins was attacked by the debuting Samoa Joe, costing him a re-injury on the same knee that he had damaged in November 2015, which caused him to take six months off and lose the WWE Title. Rollins was The Authority’s hand-picked choice to become the story line face of the WWE when Triple H convinced him to turn on The Shield. However, last September, Triple H turned on Rollins and helped Kevin Owens win the vacant Universal Title, sparking a feud between Rollins and his former mentor, Triple H.
3. The Undertaker vs Roman Reigns
As we have already mentioned this is going to be the most highlighted moment of Wrestlemania 33; “The Phantom of WrestleMania” has only lost once to Brock Lesnar out of his 24 Wrestlemania matches so far. In Wrestlemania 33, The Undertaker will be playing his 25th Wrestlamania match. This time, things are different. Not only is Roman Reigns in great shape, who’s been getting pushed to the moon for years, but Undertaker’s career may legitimately be coming to a close – he looked sluggish at the Royal Rumble because he needs hip replacement surgery, and that would likely keep him out of the ring for good. Reigns, meanwhile, will once again be performing in front of a very hostile Mania crowd.
2. Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar
Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar is the main event of WWE Wrestlemania 33. Goldberg’s return had taken the sports entertainment world by storm. After squashing Lesnar at the Survivor Series, the two legends are headed for one final showdown, this time with the Universal Title on the line. However, this one shouldn’t be blink and miss match as we were disappointed during the Survivor Series. Atleast the main event of Wrestlemania should put in some effort for the audience and viewers worldwide.
1. Return of Kurt Angle
If rumors are to be believed, Kurt Angle will be appearing at Wrestlemania 33. Kurt Angle was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 31, so he’ll be at the event to take a bow in front of the live ‘Mania crowd. Angle’s involvement with WWE is only just beginning, though, with news reports indicating he’ll play a role on Raw and may even compete in a couple of “farewell” matches.
So, those were the top 10 expected epic moments from Wrestlemania 33. We can only wait and watch the unfolding.
