History & Significance of Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is celebrated on every second Sunday of May. Anna Jarvis was the first person to make Mother’s Day a recognised holiday in the United States in 1908 to honor her mother, Anna Reese Jarvis, who was a peace activist. Anna’s mother’s memorial took place at St. Andrews Methodist Church in West Virginia, which is now known as the Mother’s Day Shrine. It was Anna’s belief that a mother is,
“The person who has done more for you than anyone in the world”
With significance comes celebration! A small gesture of gratitude and affection can make a mother’s heart flutter! A bouquet, book, accessory, clothing, or surprising her with a morning breakfast is one amazing way to start a mother’s day.
