Mothers Day Celebrations

From being an amazing entrepreneur to being a friend with whom you share your silly sorrows, a mother has always been there. She’s someone who makes the word “hard” seem “easy”. A teacher, a chef, a helper, a pusher, and a friend when needed, a mother has made sure that her children are safe and sound. Don’t you think we need a day to recognise the efforts and love of mothers all over the world?

“To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow” -Maya Angelou

Mother’s Day Date

With the intention of honoring motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society, the world celebrates Mother’s Day on May 8th every year. In this world dominated by men, it is truly a special day for mothers.

So what is the history of Mother’s Day? And when did it come to light?

History & Significance of Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is celebrated every second Sunday of May. Anna Jarvis was the first person to make Mother’s Day a recognised holiday in the United States in 1908 to honor her mother, Anna Reese Jarvis, who was a peace activist. Anna’s mother’s memorial took place at St. Andrews Methodist Church in West Virginia, which is now known as the Mother’s Day Shrine. It was Anna’s belief that a mother is,

“The person who has done more for you than anyone in the world”

With significance comes celebration! A small gesture of gratitude and affection can make a mother’s heart flutter! A bouquet, book, accessory, clothing, or surprising her with a morning breakfast is one amazing way to start a Mother’s Day.

Make Mother’s Day even more special with these 5 ideas!

DIY gifts or crafts

What’s better than making a gift with your own hands? A handmade photo frame, flowers with a small note, making accessories, a painting, or a drawing not only makes it a budget-friendly and time-saving option but also cherishes all the efforts and memories!

Bake/Cook

Cook a special meal for your mother. You can always cook an extravagant dish or make a small breakfast before your mum wakes up to surprise her!

Take her out

Take her on a special outing. This could be going out for a nice dinner or taking a trip to a favorite place. Don’t forget to tell her how much you love her and spend time with her.

Pamper her

Make sure she has time to herself. This can be done by sending her on a spa day, relaxing walk or simply allowing her time alone. Serve your mother with love. It’s important to show your mother that you care about her and her well-being.

Keep in touch

Send her a loving letter. Write about your admiration for her and the wonderful mother she is. Your mother will feel appreciated if you stay in touch regularly and are there for her when she needs you.
